Beavis & Butthead episodes were usually so bad and so unfunny that they came full circle and had me in absolute stitches.

Not long ago I saw the episode of "Friends" where at the very end of the show, Joey and Chandler are sat in their apartment, watching Beavis & Butthead. All that happens is the four characters laugh if that brilliant B&B way and it was the funniest thing I have seen for a good long time.

Brilliant!

every now and then, infantile humor can be funny

but this show was really just one long fart joke, and if it didn't have mtv's videos to mock, it would have been intolerable.

case in point: two kids in my high school tried to be beavis and
butthead, and were truly remarkable in both their devotion to this show
and their characterizations. but they were not funny. at all. much like
the "real" beavis and butthead.

the folks at the simpsons took the time to get it right. mike judge,
with a built-in market ready and willing to accept this inferior show,
didn't even try.

mcopts. you're right. The episodes do not stand the test of time, then again neither does Transformers, GI Joe, Thundercats, or countless other cartoons. That's where nostalgia comes into play.

Until I rewatched it recently, I thought Care Bears II was a good movie.

I had to vote yes on Beavis and Butt-head because it helped pave the way for other cartoons. Go back and watch The Simpsons when it was still a vehicle for "Bartman's" antics. Those don't stand the test of time either.

Stop, in the name of all that which does not suck!

When you compare B&B to modern animation, it doesn't hold up.
It's simple line drawings, for the most part. That, really, is
part of its crudeness.

The allure of the show, to me:

- childish humor. Really, they capitalized on it. Some of it is bluntly funny, even at the basest of levels.

- mockery of videos. Tell me you haven't seen a video on MTV
(remember when?) where you thought it just straight up sucked. In
some way, it's rather appealing to hear these two morons come up with
some actual witty commentary about what they're seeing -- and didn't we
dig that same concept with Mystery Science Theatre 3000?

- variety. Whereas B&B had the same reactions a lot of the
time, note that no two episodes were really the same, and that Mike
Judge eventually knew "when to say when" with the series. It
could have been carried on for quite some time past its prime, but it
wasn't -- a blessing or a curse, depending on your opinion of the show.

Personally, I think it's great. It was groundbreaking, it was
DIFFERENT, and it was entertaining. Give me this versus "Drive Me
Crazy" or "Can't Hardly Wait" any day.

nope

This show just doesn't stand the test of
time. At least not for me. Now that I am used to the primitive
animation technique and the graphic and tastless dialogue, it just
seems lame. I can't help but visualize the actors and it itsn't pretty.
hehehehehehhhh, oh well whatever.
I prefer the Simpsons and Family Guy.
