I like exercise, but I hate the gym. The noise, the smell, and the obnoxious people get me down and I can't wait to get out of there. I replaced my gym regimen with biking, walking and a home gym (Bowflex) and in the winter months, snowshoieing and cross-country skiing.

I recommend finding a class that your gym offers. I was
addicted to spinning, then the ab class, then I threw up because of it,
(Thanks Lauren!), now I am into the boxing. For the exercise obsessed
(hey, it beats heroin) it is a beautiful place to work away the
stresses of the everyday. And there are hot people, dont lie to
yourself and tell me that isnt a draw.

mouse gets HUGE!

i don't know ... i just can't get into "the gym." perhaps i'm just a
big, lazy, stupidhead, but it seems that most anything one can do in
the gym can be done either in the comfort of one's home - get a chin-up
bar or even some free weights - or a park, or around the neighborhood.
while i don't run nearly as often as i should, i'd much rather do it in
the open air than on a treadmill. gyms have the benefit of personal
trainers on hand to help you with exercises you're doing incorrectly,
but hey, if we all stopped going to the gym, they'd have to come to our
apartments (with those free weights we've purchased).

what? you can meet people at the gym? like, to date? hmmm ...
better -- but inspiration and support help keep you going, I think.

I love my gym -- and I need to get going again.
