it's not THAT small!

Seriously - why would you call this nano? Maybe if it was closer to the size of a USB key. I for one had a "oh, with a name like nano I thought it would be much smaller" reaction. I think the Apple marketing machine wasted a perfectly good name too soon, which is a surprising misstep from such a polished organisation.

Get a case.

I've owned 5 iPods now - from the first gen all the way up to the 4gb nano - and this is my favorite one by far. I haven't had the scratching problems many have complained about in the press and on sites like this, but it is very fragile.

I suggest getting a case (i got one from these guys: http://www.speckproducts.com/) and don't look back. Otherwise, you can't beat this little guy - it fits in any pocket, and I take it everywhere - work, in the car, running, etc.

It's crazy to think of what may be next.

Good. Sorta.

I must admit I've never had one of these, but as I've seen many places,
the nano gets scratched too easy, especially the screen.

It's a really good iPod, and really small, but the durability really isn't good from what I've read.

Black.

Scratches show up worse on the black model, however with only a minority suffering from dreadful scratches, the risk is worth it. Nice size and feels sturdy - however I find the click wheel a little fiddly sometimes.

Good from far, but far from good.

This is like the supermodel of iPods. From far away its sleek, sexy, and holds lots of promise. But when you get up close it wrinkles scratches easily, has a short attention battery span, and usually comes out of the box with some emotional
quality control issue. Having said this, I wouldn't kick a supermodel
out of bed for eating crackers, and that goes the same for the iPod
nano.

might be too small

It's an amazing piece of hardware, I'll give it that. It's pretty
incredible to fit so much data into such a small device. But yeah, it's
just not comfortable and it doesn't store enough, plus i hear bad
things about scratching the screen. If they made a flash drive in an
iPod the same size as the mini, but with more hard drive space, then
it'd be pretty cool. Unless you're one of those technophiles who have
to be one of the "first-haves", wait until Apple makes their next iPod
with flash memory that stores more data.
