Expressing your likes and dislikes feels good, but getting personalized recommendations can feel even better. As you use Riffs more and more, you can get great recommendations in many different ways. First, you'll discover other users who have great taste, and you'll be able to keep track of their reviews. We'll also make recommendations to you based purely on the things you've rated, based on what other people who have similar tastes also rated.
A Bliki is a combination of two popular internet interfaces: blogs and wikis.
A blog is your online journal. A wiki is an application that allows users to modify any portion of a document. A Bliki is a combination of these two things—the community, including you, decides on the content for any given item, whose reviews are the best, what things or topics are the most important to riff about, and how those riffs should be organized and annotated. You also have your own page, where you can organize your riffs and record your commentary about anything you go to, read, watch, play with, or even think about, sharing your voice with the riffs community.
The more you riff about who you are and what you like and dislike, the more useful riffs will become. You can configure your page just as you'd like it. Most importantly, all the recommendations you receive from Riffs and from the community are directly influenced by what you tell us you like and don't like!
Riffs gives you a highly personal experience combined with a community of recommenders, raters, reviewers, and bloggers. When you find other people with similar tastes, you can keep track of their riffs. You can even ask them for specific recommendations, both on riffs.com and on your mobile device. The riffs chat feature lets you discuss things with the community at large or limit your conversation to your inner circle.
As long as you have a mobile phone, Riffs is anywhere you are! You can chat with users and ask for recommendations, even while standing on a street corner. Ever been out doing errands and wish you could find a good coffee joint in the neighborhood? Using SMS on your phone, you can either ask your recommenders or the entire Riffs community what they'd suggest.
- Add any webpage to riff on with one click using our Rifflet. Just drag the Rifflet into your bookmarks toolbar, and then click on it whenever you're on a page that you want to add.
- Upload your del.icio.us bookmarks. We'll add them as items complete with all of your existing del.icio.us tags, so that you and the community can riff on them.
- Sync your iTunes music with Riffs. We'll get a better sense of what you like, and we'll also be able to recommend new music to you with our riffs music recommender. Rate all of your music in one easy step!
- Create a profile that other users will be able to see. Tag yourself, list your interests, and tell the community what you're all about. You can connect with users who share your interests.
- Comment on riffs and reviews. You can rate other users' reviews to let the community know how good you think they are. You can also start a conversation about any review by using our comments feature. Discuss items in as much detail as you want, and turn reviewing into a social process.
